CAMRA Stewards[edit]

Is it worth talking about the stewarding staff at the beer festivals? Sorry for the small message. Lemon Demon (talk) 23:47, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

Grottneys[edit]

One of the most successfull CAMRA campaigns in the early days was the reference to Watneys Red Barrel as Grottneys by Bill Tidy. CAMRA is mentioned in Bill Tidy but Bill is not mentioned here. The general use of the term Grottneys probably, more than anything, lead to the end of Watneys Red Barrel. I have discussed this at Talk:Watney Combe & Reid also. --Bduke (Discussion) 22:32, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

Redirect[edit]

Campaign for Real Ale has global significance, and a worldwide membership, and is largely known under the name CAMRA. Per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, CAMRA should redirect to Campaign for Real Ale. See this, this and this. SilkTork ✔Tea time 09:53, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

Sorry but I disagree. Please discuss on talk page at Talk:CAMRA rather than here so other contributor to that disambiguation page can discuss. --Bob Re-born (talk) 10:09, 13 February 2012 (UTC)

CAMRA's own pub chain (sic)[edit]

I wonder if there is any interest in the following?

"CAMRA (Real Ale) Investments Limited" an investment trust, using CAMRA's name, and with restricted membership to CAMRA members was set up to acquire pubs.

Set up in 1978, it owned five pubs; the Old Fox in Bristol, the Salisbury Arms in Cambridge, the Nag's Head in Hampstead, the White Gates in Manchester and the Eagle in Leeds etc. Later there were others; The Duke of Wellington in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, one in Woolwich, and some others.

Many mistook this enterprise as a set up to run CAMRA's own pubs. Its last mention in the good Beer Guide was 1980. In 1983 CAMRA Investments changed name to Midsummer Inns, and then in 1985 Swithland Leisure took over. The official CAMRA body distanced themselves from this short lived enterprise.
