Assess : newly added and existing articles, maybe nominate some good B-class articles for GA; independently assess some as A-class, regardless of GA status.
Cleanup : * Sport governing body (this should-be-major article is in a shameful state) * Field hockey (History section needs sources and accurate information - very vague at the moment.) * Standardize Category:American college sports infobox templates to use same font size and spacing. * Sport in the United Kingdom - the Popularity section is incorrect and unsourced. Reliable data is required. * Fix project template and/or "to do list" Current version causes tables of content to be hidden unless/until reader chooses "show."

This article is written in American English, which has its own spelling conventions (color, labor, traveled), and some terms that are used in it may be different or absent from other varieties of English. According to the relevant style guide, this should not be changed without broad consensus.
Expand : I find it curious that, like many teams on the floor, rebounding and exposition of same is missing from this article.--Buckboard 01:27, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
Update : The FIBA just changed the dimensions of the lane and the 3-point line. And you can hold the ball for two steps when going for a lay up. Please update the page.
Other : What about basketball in other countries? Maybe the picture should show an actual basketball game in action (with all the players)?

In the first sentence on the third paragraph from the top, the article says: "Violations are called 'fouls'". This is incoherent since the violations hyperlink sends us to a lower part in the article where there is a distinction made between violations and fouls. Please correct this: the sentence "violations are called 'fouls'" is erroneous.
Naturally, this article will have a great deal to do with the U.S. as the birthplace and continuing professional heartland of basketball. However, the entire article is written from a perspective dealing almost wholly with basketball in relation to the USA, from the assumed perspective of a U.S. reader. A particular clear example is the various headings for different levels of basketball, all focusing entirely on the sport in the U.S. The international basketball section, which should rightly solely focus on the sport played at the international level, mostly does so, but then wholly inappropriately has a few short paragraphs about basketball played outside the U.S. generally.
In fact, the whole headline system of this article is largely inappropriate outside of a U.S. context, as categorisation of basketball playing does not universally reflect the U.S. model. A lot of it is good, but perhaps a new article should reflect the development of basketball in the U.S., whereas this article should be shorter, focused, and universally relevant.
A correction is needed in the section stating that high school games use 8 minute quarters. This is not true. Minnesota has used 18-minute halves for many years. Wisconsin just completed their first full year of 18-minute halves. And a quick internet search indicates that many other states are considering or experimenting with halves.
I think the page needs a new front/main image in the infobox, rather than having the picture of the creator of basketball. I think the picture should represent the sport itself, similar to how the baseball page's main image is a picture of a baseball field. Something more modern. 108.30.110.252 (talk) 20:15, 7 June 2018.
